Coronavirus-Schutzverordnung - CoronaSchV (Englisch)

Ordinance on protection against infection risks related to entry to Germany with regard to novel mutations of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus subsequent to the determination of an epidemic situation of national significance by the German Bundestag

In order to prevent the spread of variants of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the Federal Republic of Germany, the Federal Government has issued an ordinance banning the transport of persons from „areas of variant of concern“ as of January 30 - strictly limited exemptions reserved.

In order to prevent the spread of variants of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the Federal Republic of Germany, the Federal Government has issued an ordinance banning the transport of persons from „areas of variant of concern“ as of January 30 - strictly limited exemptions reserved.

„Areas of variant of concern“ are regions which the Federal Ministry of Health, in agreement with the Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community, has determined to pose a particularly high risk of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, because there is widespread occurence of certain, novel and more dangerous variants of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in that risk area.

The Robert Koch Institute maintains a continually updated list of areas of variants of concern at the following address: www.rki.de/risikogebiete.

In addition to the current obligations concerning registration on entry, testing and quarantine, a temporary restriction on the transport of persons entering the Federal Republic of Germany from countries classified as areas of variant of concern is necessary to protect the population in the Federal Republic of Germany and to limit the entry and rapid spread of new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

The transport ban applies to passenger transport by train, bus, ship and air directly from these countries. This provision has been incorporated into the Ordinance on Coronavirus Entry Regulations (§ 10).
