Born on 18 July 1968 in Hamburg.

1985: Intermediate secondary school-leaving certificate at the Heidberg grammar school in Hamburg, subsequently attended school in England. From 1986: Trained as a nurse, graduated in 1989. From 1986 to 1992: Worked in home nursing care and clinical dialysis in Hamburg.

From 1992: Studied economics at the Hamburg University of Economics and Politics. Graduated in economics in 1996.

From 1996 to 1998: Senior expert on the hospital sector at the Federal Association of the AOK in Bonn. From 1998 to 2003: Senior expert on the hospital sector at the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) health insurance fund in Hamburg. From 2004 to 2006 and 2008 to 2010: Senior expert in the Public Policy Department of the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) health insurance fund in Berlin.

From 2006 to 2008 and from 2010 to 2015: Advisor to the Working Group on Health of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group.

From 2016 to 2019: Head of Division at the Federal Chancellery, responsible among other areas for the statutory health and long-term care insurance system as well as European and international health policy.

From 2019 to 2025: Head of Directorate ‘Health Insurance’ at the Federal Ministry of Health.

Since 11 June 2025: State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Health
