Born on 10 August 1977 in Paderborn.

Professional career:
Military service in Augustdorf after completing the ‘Abitur’ university entrance qualification;
Studied Business Management at Paderborn University of Applied Sciences;
Completed a PhD in Economics (Dr. rer. pol.) at Chemnitz University of Technology;
Lecturer at the Chair of Economics and Business Administration at Chemnitz University of Technology;
Economist at Deutsche Bank Research in Frankfurt am Main and at Deutsche Industriebank in Düsseldorf.

Political involvement:
From 2004 until 2008: Member of the council of Altenbeken municipality;
Since 2009: Member of the German Bundestag;
Since 2010: Member of the Land executive committee of North Rhine-Westphalia CDU;
From 2013 to 2021: Member of the CDU federal executive committee;
From 2018 to 2021: Deputy chair of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group;
From 2022 to 2023: Deputy party chair;
Since July 2023: Secretary General of the CDU in Germany;
Since May 2025: Deputy chair of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group.

Voluntary work:
Since 2010: Founder and chair of the LEBENSlauf Foundation;
Since 2016: Advisory board member of the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronic Systems Design IEM;
Since 2016: Member of the Ludwig Erhard Foundation;
Since 2018: Vice President of SC Paderborn 07.

Dr. Carsten Linnemann has been Federal Minister of Health since 29 July 2026.
